Kathleen Kalbian, VMD

Meet Dr. Kathleen Kalbian Veterinarian at Fenton River Veterinary Hospital

Kathleen is a Connecticut native and graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ with a B.S. in chemical biology. She spent a year working at the PennVet Swine Research & Teaching Center where she developed an appreciation for swine nutrition, husbandry, productivity, and welfare. She then received her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

Trevor Copes, DVM

Meet Trevor Copes, DVM, Veterinarian at Fenton River Veterinary Hospital

Trevor grew up in New Lothrop, Michigan (Go Green), on a cash crop and livestock farm. From the moment he could walk, he was working with the animals that called their farm home.

His family farm consisted of a 40-sow farrow-to-finish operation, 100-head Holstein steers, and 100-head breeding Hampshire ewes. He rapidly developed a love for livestock husbandry, most notably within pigs and cattle. At the age of 8 he began completely showing pigs at the county, state, and national level. He was active in 4-H and FFA and is an active supporter of these organizations

Rebecca Tirabassi, DVM

Rebecca grew up in southern New Hampshire surrounded by many animals. Although she meant to become a veterinarian when she was little, her career drifted into research early in college and she received her bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and a PhD in Molecular Biology from Princeton University.

Chelsea Santa Lucia, DVM

Meet Dr. Chelsea Santa Lucia, Veterinarian at Fenton River Veterinary Hospital

Chelsea grew up in Wolcott, Connecticut and developed a love of animals from a young age. She began riding horses at the age of 10 and working at a local small animal veterinary clinic. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut and then went on to graduate from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.

Christina Parrella, DVM

Dr. Christina Parrella is a Massachusetts native and grew up in the south shore. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. During this time, she worked closely with the University’s sheep herd, fostering a strong interest in small ruminant medicine

Emma Fournier, DVM

Meet Dr. Emma Fournier

Dr. Emma Fournier is a graduate from the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She was born and raised in Maine and attended the University of Maine Orono for her Bachelors degree in biology. Prior to vet school, Emma worked at a local animal shelter for several years and formed a strong interest in shelter medicine.

Jesse Batty, DVM

Meet Dr. Jesse Batty, Veterinarian at Fenton River Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Batty grew up in Smithfield, Rhode Island enjoying various sports and participating in Boy Scouts. He went on to study biology and chemistry at Quinnipiac University. After graduation, he gained valuable experience working as a veterinary assistant at Woodstock Veterinary Clinic in northeast Connecticut. Then he pursued his veterinary degree at Kansas State University, graduating in 2022. His professional interests include small animal surgery, anesthesia, and emergency medicine.

Sarah Plante, DVM

Dr. Sarah Plante Fenton River Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Sarah Plante grew up in Ellington, Connecticut. She was a Girl Scout for 12 years, and always loved animals despite never owning any. She attended Becker College, graduating with a B.S. in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.

Following graduation, she worked as a certified veterinary technician before being accepted to veterinary school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean. Her final year of vet school took place at The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Tracy Locke Zulick, DVM

Tracy Locke Zulick Veterinarian at Fenton River Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Tracy Zulick grew up in Mansfield, Connecticut sharing the pleasure and responsibility of a horse with her four sisters. She loved all animals and became interested in farming through her future husband’s family. She received her animal science degree at the University of Connecticut. Many years later when she was analyzing her career path, she decided to follow her dream and went to Tufts Veterinary School.

Initially, Dr. Zulick worked in a mixed-animal practice. She took care of all species of livestock, dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets, and even worked with Greyhounds at the Plainfield Race Track. Her next move was to a small animal practice of dogs and cats with the occasional ferret. While there, Dr. Zulick was able to gain a lot of experience in soft tissue surgery. Recently, she worked in a cat only practice where she has learned to appreciate and respect the uniqueness of cats and develop her experience with dentistry.

Heidi Morey, MS, DVM – Owner

Dr. Heidi Morey Veterinarian at Fenton River Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Heidi Morey grew up in Willington, Connecticut. She was active in many 4-H clubs during her youth, but especially enjoyed showing beef cattle. She attended the University of Connecticut, graduating with a B.S. in animal science. Following graduation, Heidi attended veterinary school at Kansas State University, and graduated with honors. While there, she also completed her M.S. in animal science.

After graduation, she practiced in a mixed animal practice in north central Kansas. There, she was able to focus on her interest of small animal, soft tissue, and orthopedic surgery, while also having the opportunity to work with farm animals and horses.

Scott Morey, DVM, MS – Founder [In memoriam]

Dr. Scott Morey Veterinarian at Fenton River Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Scott Morey was raised in Tolland, Connecticut. Growing up, he enjoyed working on a local dairy farm and showing beef cattle in 4-H. This led him to pursue a degree in animal science from the University of Connecticut. He then attended veterinary school at Kansas State University and graduated with honors. While attending veterinary school, he also pursued his M.S. in animal science, specializing in dairy cattle nutrition, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
