Katie Schlecker, DVM

Dr Katie Schlecker

Dr. Katie Schlecker grew up in northeastern Maryland on a small horse farm, where she and her family had a menagerie of animals. She went to college at Towson University, earning a degree in Biology & Animal Behavior, before attending veterinary school at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (aka: Virginia Tech). There, she focused heavily on both equine and small animal medicine.

Following graduation, she completed an equine ambulatory internship near Rochester, NY. She then moved east, to the Saratoga Springs area, where she switched gears and joined a small animal practice. Her professional interests include preventative care and nutrition, internal medicine, emergency medicine, ophthalmology, and hospice care. She is Fear Free certified and utilizes this approach to minimize anxiety and fear during her patients’ visits. She is thrilled to join the team at Fenton River Veterinary Hospital! When she’s not donning scrubs, Dr. Katie enjoys riding her fiery Arabian mare, Faye, as well as hiking , bicycling, and spending time with her husband, Lou.
